elevator going up!

london calling

saturday mornings are nice. i slept 15 hours straight, going to bed last night at 7pm right after magnum p.i. was finished. i've been the sickest i have been in a long time. i was sneezing and coughing so much yesterday. i coughed so much that i threw up. not so cool. but i feel a lot better today. hardly coughing at all, sinus's all clear. coffee and cigarettes feel nice. the sun is out but it isn't hot, very nice.

I'm rockin out to an original promo pressing of 'london calling' on vinyl. super super great sound quality and the thing is in a nearly perfect shape. one of my best purchases in quite a while.

i realize it's been a while since i've updated this thing, so here's a primer on what's going on in my life here.

amanda was FINALLY officially hired by LAUSD and will begin teaching in a couple of weeks. She got the call a week ago last thursday while she was at home in bakersfield. Her grandma passed away and so she spent a week up at home taking care of things and spending time with her family. turns out there wasn't ever a hiring freeze at all. but it was probably a real blessing that there was a delay in the process, seeing as she might not have been able to go home and be with her family after teaching for such a short time. so thursday afternoon i drove up to bakersfield and spent the night up there. friday morning we drove down to LA so she could take care of all her hiring paper work, then in the afternoon we drove back up to bakersfield to be there for the funeral on saturday. since the school district didn't really give her any notice, her new prinicple was cool with her giving two weeks notice at her current job. this was really great for us paycheck wise, so that worked out nicely. she's really excited to be teaching soon, and it's great that it's at the same school as ryan patterson. thanks for all the prayers regarding that!

as for me, i am officially un-employed again. the project at HAC ended on friday, so i've got to find something else pretty soon. something part time, something where i don't have to wear a uniform would be nice. the plan as of now is for me to go back to school next semester and finally finish up. so finding something just to bring in a little extra cash flow until then would be great. after i finish up with school, im thinking of doing the same program that amanda is doing, then once my credential is finished, go to grad school and get my MFA. who knows if that's how the whole thing will shake down, but that's the plan for now. having a credential is a great thing, as many of you know, and i think i would be a good teacher.

not much else going on aside from those things. we're hoping to be able to go up to oregon for christas time, but we'll see how things work out. the transition to amanda teaching, money-wise, might be a little tricky since teachers get paid once a month. so we'll see how that works out.

anyway, im still kinda loopy from all the medicine i have been taking. i'll stop the rambling for now. peace kiddies.

oh the things i would do!

cut off your fucking hands you douche bag

the mustang got broken into last night, though 'broken' might not be the best word. i moved the car across the street at 1:30am because of street sweeping. i locked the car and beeped the alarm as i always do to make sure it's locked. i walked to my car this morning, still locked. but inside was a different story. no cd player. no case logic with about 60 cd's.

sometimes, and i say this with a big caveat, sometimes i wish crimes like this were punished like we used to, like back when we were pirates.

"oh you got into my locked trunk says you??"

"i says we cuts of his handses!"

me too. i say we cut off his handses, take his freakin head, strap it to a pole and make him listen to my my fucking delux re-issue t-rex cd at full volume for three weeks or until his ears bleed. which ever comes last. fuck you.

shelter from the storm

stole from flickr

wearing the hat and the two jackets (one with a hood) turned out to be a good idea. the rain was coming down hard enough to soak me through. my walk home was short, so it didn't really matter too much. feeling my clothes stick to my skin was worth the hot cup of coffee, two cigarettes and a couple of tracks from 'blood on the tracks'. these are my favorite types of walks. they are a nice refrain from the sunshine and haze that usually fills my days. i guess it's fitting for my week to end a-typically. it's been a weird one.

lots of stuff happened this week. i shuttled amanda back and forth between here and bakersfield a couple of times. i had a job interview. i had the flu. i drove a lot in the dark. i slept a lot in the light.

amanda's grandma passed away on friday just after noon. clay, her husband was with her in the hospice room. they were married 55 years. amanda is at home with her family for the next week. i'll be joining them this coming weekend for betty's funeral. she was such a wonderful woman. very kind, and very small. she was a lot like amanda in many ways. amanda is very sad. no one this close to her has passed away before. i guess that god has blessed me in an opposite way. he's given me gifts to be able to help her in that department though. pray for her and her family if you remember them.

i have a second interview tomorrow (monday) afternoon for the same position i interviewed for last week. it's a fun job in the music industry. pray for me if you remember. my interview is at 2pm

the sermons vs. the gospel demo

nate

so i have been listening to this song on repeat for a little bit. it's a demo that nate from cwk wrote a couple of weeks ago. the lyrics are amazing, and coupled with the music, they are freakin retarded good. it's demo quality at this point, but that almost works in it's favor. you can check it out by going to their myspace page. it should play in an autmated fashion once you arrive at their page. here are the lyrics.

the sermon vs. the gospel/ take four

gettin closer everyday
getting closer everyday
Lord have mercy on me
talkin about two different things
television and life magazine
Lord have mercy on me
oooohhhhh
Lord have mercy on me

I've got this idea in my head
and i can't get it out
cause all your money and all your culture
i can surely live without
pile your treasures up on earth
for what you keep and what you take
are property of vanity
or even knowledge for knowledge sake
and i said

Lord have mercy on me
we're talkin about two different things
television and life magazine
Lord have mercy on me
oooohhhhh
Lord have mercy on me

don't want to see no psychoanalyst
experienced in assisting to adjust
european travel, the H bomb
presidential elections
front page of the new york times
front page of the new york times

Lord have mercy on me
we're talkin about two different things
television and life magazine
Lord have mercy on me
Lord
Lord have mercy on me

Quit your gripin' shine your shoes
tell you a little secret for your blues
don't make no difference who's watchin from the stands
the fat lady always claps her hands

Lord have mercy on me
say it, even if you're robbin from the poor
Lord have mercy on me
I believe the words can change the heart
the words can change the heart
the words can change the heart
have mercy on me oh Lord

Lord have mercy on me
talkin about two different things
television and life magazine
Lord have mercy on me
oooohhhhh God
Lord have mercy on me
gettin closer everyday
gettin closer everyday
