elevator going up!
saturday mornings are nice. i slept 15 hours straight, going to bed last night at 7pm right after magnum p.i. was finished. i've been the sickest i have been in a long time. i was sneezing and coughing so much yesterday. i coughed so much that i threw up. not so cool. but i feel a lot better today. hardly coughing at all, sinus's all clear. coffee and cigarettes feel nice. the sun is out but it isn't hot, very nice.
I'm rockin out to an original promo pressing of 'london calling' on vinyl. super super great sound quality and the thing is in a nearly perfect shape. one of my best purchases in quite a while.
i realize it's been a while since i've updated this thing, so here's a primer on what's going on in my life here.
amanda was FINALLY officially hired by LAUSD and will begin teaching in a couple of weeks. She got the call a week ago last thursday while she was at home in bakersfield. Her grandma passed away and so she spent a week up at home taking care of things and spending time with her family. turns out there wasn't ever a hiring freeze at all. but it was probably a real blessing that there was a delay in the process, seeing as she might not have been able to go home and be with her family after teaching for such a short time. so thursday afternoon i drove up to bakersfield and spent the night up there. friday morning we drove down to LA so she could take care of all her hiring paper work, then in the afternoon we drove back up to bakersfield to be there for the funeral on saturday. since the school district didn't really give her any notice, her new prinicple was cool with her giving two weeks notice at her current job. this was really great for us paycheck wise, so that worked out nicely. she's really excited to be teaching soon, and it's great that it's at the same school as ryan patterson. thanks for all the prayers regarding that!
as for me, i am officially un-employed again. the project at HAC ended on friday, so i've got to find something else pretty soon. something part time, something where i don't have to wear a uniform would be nice. the plan as of now is for me to go back to school next semester and finally finish up. so finding something just to bring in a little extra cash flow until then would be great. after i finish up with school, im thinking of doing the same program that amanda is doing, then once my credential is finished, go to grad school and get my MFA. who knows if that's how the whole thing will shake down, but that's the plan for now. having a credential is a great thing, as many of you know, and i think i would be a good teacher.
not much else going on aside from those things. we're hoping to be able to go up to oregon for christas time, but we'll see how things work out. the transition to amanda teaching, money-wise, might be a little tricky since teachers get paid once a month. so we'll see how that works out.
anyway, im still kinda loopy from all the medicine i have been taking. i'll stop the rambling for now. peace kiddies.
